The John Marshall varsity football squad made the long trip to Ravenna, Ohio on Thursday to take on Southeast in the season opener.
The defense was stubborn all night, led by Cervonte Walker’s 9 tackles and an interception. Marcellus Blade and Allen Dixon each had six tackles, and Dwayne Stowers had five. The unit forced Southeast to lose the ball on downs three different times, including a crucial first half series in Lawyer territory.
Offensively, Taevon Coles ran hard for 55 tough yards, including his game-long carry of 20 yards. Jeriah Stoudemire led the receivers with two catches for 35 yards. Kicker Ramesh Kafley, playing his first-ever game, was successful on his PAT attempt.
The Lawyers return to action Friday night against Valley Forge at 7pm. Due to ongoing reconstruction of John Marshall Stadium, the game will be played at Wasmer Field on the campus of St. Ignatius High School.
